Shoreline Monitoring Database

Photo Points Protocol

Purpose

Taking photographs at a site during sampling can be useful to document habitat conditions that may change over time. Habitat conditions include natural parameters such as sediments and vegetation, and constructed parameters such as bulkheads and docks. Habitat conditions may change depending on planned activities such as new plantings of vegetation at restoration sites and construction or repair of shoreline armoring, and unplanned activities such as sediment and log movement due to winter storms and landslides. Annual fixed photo points of a site and photos of sampling should be a part of all monitoring.
